As part of Bethesda's big announcements today about its future and what's coming next, the company also gave an update on Starfield. In its statement, Bethesda said, "Starfield remains an important part of our future." Starfield released in September 2023, so the game is now going into its third year. Bethesda said it will continue to expand the game with "new stories, targeted gameplay improvements, and additional updates." There will be "new Starborn content" coming to the game in 2027, Bethesda added. Starfield fans are getting more Starfield in 2027. The game reached more than 17 million people, but it hasn't sold that many copies, as it's also available on Xbox Game Pass. Starfield got an expansion called Shattered Space in 2024, and the game expanded further from there with a PS5 release in 2026. An update called Free Lanes arrived in April 2026, along with a new story expansion called Terran Armada. Bethesda's other updates today included the announcement that Fallout 5 has entered pre-production and that remasters of Fallout 3 and New Vegas are in the works. Additionally, Bethesda gave an update on The Elder Scrolls 6, saying, "We’re where we planned to be, loving how it looks, and playing it every day." Bethesda made these announcements amid a tumultuous time at studio owner Xbox. The company laid off 1,600 people recently, with another 1,600 set to lose their jobs in the next year. Microsoft also confirmed plans to divest studios as part of a plan to "reset" the business.

In a games industry that is increasingly shifting to digital, amplified by PlayStation phasing out physical game discs starting in 2028, where does a brick-and-mortar chain like GameStop fit into this future? GameStop CEO Ryan Cohen appears to have no concern for this monumental shift whatsoever. When asked by Bloomberg about how Sony's digital policy would affect GameStop's business, Cohen responded: "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter at all." While his answer appears flippant and preposterous on the surface (the word "game" is in the company's name, after all), the company's financial reporting appears to support his stance that the potential decline of physical games, new and used, would impact GameStop. "Software--it mattered in the past. Software today makes up less than 12% of the business, and collectibles make up over half the business. So it's totally, totally irrelevant," Cohen said. https://youtu.be/G3fCkeo2kY8?si=0cZ6O9FzWL9o_ER1&t=983 GameStop's stock price was largely unaffected by Sony's bombshell announcement about its plans to abandon physical media--in fact, the company's share price jumped up. According to GameStop's financial reports for the first quarter of 2026, collectibles, such as Pokemon cards, made up 41.8% of the company's total revenue, with hardware and accessories making up nearly 40% of its revenue. Gaming software is by far the smallest portion of GameStop's business today. Bloomberg also brought up Rockstar Games' plan for Grand Theft Auto 6's discless release having no resale value for a retailer like GameStop. Cohen pivoted the conversation hard, saying he wanted to "go back and talk about eBay," referring to his ongoing push to acquire the famous online marketplace and turn a combined eBay-GameStop entity into a "$1 trillion business." How Cohen hopes to achieve such a feat is unclear. What is clear, however, is Cohen's apathy toward the medium that built GameStop's business in the first place.

The post-apocalyptic world of Fallout expanded a few years ago with the release of a TV series on Prime Video, but anyone expecting a new Fallout game to release in time with the show was out of luck. Two seasons have already aired--and a third is on the way--but the gap between new Fallout video games continues to widen. Bethesda Game Studios boss Todd Howard has a different viewpoint on the MIA status of the games, and as he explained to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier on his YouTube channel, it all comes down to timing. "I look at it from what does the franchise look like to the audience? I view TV as one chapter, and I view when is a franchise really, really healthy, and when can we execute whatever we're doing, whether it's a mobile game or a TV show or remasters, making sure that we execute those at the highest level," Howard said to Schreier (who was relaying the quotes back to his YouTube audience). https://youtu.be/j3vP8EOmtRk Howard also added that Bethesda was looking for the right "pocket-timing" (synchronizing a rhythm perfectly with a band's groove) for the Fallout franchise. Bethesda also spoke about its future plans for the Fallout franchise today, confirming that remasters for Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are on the way. As reported last week, Obsidian Entertainment will be teaming up with Bethesda to work on a new Fallout project, and Fallout 76 will receive a major new update later this year, Raven Rock, that serves as a prequel to Fallout 3. Bethesda says that Fallout 5 remains the "long-term destination" for the company, and it is currently in pre-production. The Mysterious Mushroom is an item that was added with the Sakurajima update in mid-2024, but if you're jumping back into the game after a break to enjoy the 1.0 release, you might be wondering where to find this elusive ingredient. Pretty unsurprisingly, you can find the Palworld Mysterious Mushroom on Sakurajima Island. This special ingredient can be harvested by cutting down the large blue mushrooms that appear throughout the environment near water. You can also kill Shroomer and Shroomer Noct Pals, as they have a chance of dropping a Mysterious Mushroom on death. You can find Mysterious Mushrooms in the Sakurajima region. You can use the Mysterious Mushroom to craft Mysterious Mushroom Juice, but it's mostly sought after to craft the Shroomer Noct saddle. To make the Shroomer Noct saddle you'll need 20 Leather, 20 Mysterious Mushrooms, 30 Fibre, 10 Refined Ingots, and 30 Paldium Fragments. After crafting it, you'll be able to use your Shroomer Noct as a mount, and unlock their partner skill, Swooshy Spores. If you're struggling to find it, make sure you've read our guide on how to start the Sakurajima DLC in Palworld.
The upcoming remake of Halo: Combat Evolved is launching soon, aiming for a July 28 release date. With so many games coming out soon, and limited resources with which to both buy and have the time to play them, you might be wondering how long it'll take you to complete Halo: Campaign Evolved. Halo: Campaign Evolved is a remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved, but it adds three new missions and reworks certain sections. It'll depend on the difficulty settings and your experience with the franchise as a whole, but it should take around 8-12 hours for your first run of Halo: Campaign Evolved. This is based on our own experience, with the average playthrough of the original Halo: Combat Evolved taking around 10 hours. With the new content and reworked sections, we've increased that estimate to a maximum of 12 hours. Having said that, if you're looking to to complete 100% of the game's content, including finding all of the Skulls and getting all of the achievements and trophies, you can expect it to take more like 15-20 hours. Especially since there will be new Skulls to find, so you can't rely on prior knowledge to hunt them all down. Halo: Campaign Evolved mission list We know that Campaign Evolved will add three prequel missions to the list, but should otherwise include the original ten missions from Combat Evolved. We know that this trio of new missions is collectively called Operation Meteorite, but we don't know their specific names or contents just yet. We'll update this guide before the game releases to bring you that information. The Pillar of Autumn - This previously served as the introductory mission, showing the basics of combat and tasking you with fleeing the besieged UNSC ship. Halo - Seek out surviving Marines and help them fight the Covenant. Truth and Reconciliation - Gain access to the grounded Covenant ship and rescue Captain Keyes. The Silent Cartographer - Storm the beach, find the map room, and locate the control center. Assault on the Control Room - Defend the control room against waves of Covenant troops. 343 Guilty Spark - Make your way through dark swamps and meet the Flood. The Library - Navigate the containment facility and retrieve the Index. Two Betrayals - Re-activate Halo's weapon and learn the truth. Keyes - Stage an assault on a Covenant ship and bring back the Captain. The Maw - Destroy Halo from the inside. While you're gearing up for the release, make sure you're clued up on Halo: Campaign Evolved cross play and cross-save functionality, too.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is set to instill nostalgia in gamers when it releases on July 28. The original Halo released a massive 25 years ago, and Combat Evolved's Anniversary Edition was 15 years ago. Now, you'll be able to take on the classic adventure in a modern setting, complete with new missions, and even new Skulls to hunt down. But will you have to fork out to enjoy it, or is it included on Microsoft's subscription service? The good news is yes, Halo: Campaign Evolved is available on Game Pass on day one. However, it does depend which version of Game Pass you're subscribed to. If you've got an Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscription, you're going to be able to play Campaign Evolved as soon as it's released. You can check out the Halo: Campaign Evolved launch times in our article. https://youtu.be/C6JyOj-7tH8 If you're not subscribed to either of those services, Halo: Campaign Evolved won't be available at launch, but it will come to the service later on. Game Pass Premium subscribers should expect to get Halo: Campaign Evolved added to their available games within a year of its release. Unfortunately, there's no word yet on what that means for Game Pass Essential subscribers. Unless you specifically preorder the game, though, you won't get any of the additional bonuses regardless of the Xbox Game Pass subscription level you have. For those who will have it via Game Pass, you can upgrade to the Premium Edition for $20. In return, you'll get access to the game five days before anyone else, starting July 23, and new customization options in-game.
A new event arrives in Pokopia this month, allowing you to earn limited-time rewards. Pokopia’s latest event is themed around Zorua, the adorable shape-shifting Pokemon. This guide will explain how to participate in Zorua's Hide-and-Sneak Contest event and all known rewards. Zorua's Hide-and-Sneak Contest event details Zorua's Hide-and-Sneak Contest event runs from July 19-27 , and the event will start and end at 5 AM for your local time. Some of the earlier events worked with time travel in Pokopia, but at the time of writing this, time travel doesn't work for Zorua's event. The Pokemon Zorua with Ditto At the start of the event, Zorua can be found outside of any of the Pokemon Centers you've restored. This means you need to progress far enough in the game to befriend Bulbasaur and rebuild the first Pokemon Center as part of the "Yawn up a Storm" important request for Withered Wastelands. How to play Zorua's Hide-and-Sneak Contest and earn rewards Speaking with Zorua should initiate the ability to participate in hide-and-sneak for the contest. This should work much like the existing hide-and-sneak mini game. If you've already completed the Bleak Beach questline, then you've already met Zorua and learned the camouflage ability. If not, Zorua should teach you the ability when you meet them outside of your completed Pokemon Center in Withered Wasteland. This mini-game lets you use the camouflage ability to hide from seeking Pokemon and sneak to a specified location. The reward for this is usually small amounts of stardust, but the earnings will likely be improved during the event. The full list of rewards hasn't been revealed yet, but participating in Zorua's Hide-and-Sneak Contest will give you the chance to earn special prizes based on your performance, including an event trophy. Additionally, you can also meet up in another player's world or on a Cloud Island to participate in a co-op contest. The fastest completion time among all participating players will become the town or Cloud Island’s best record. The recent Pokopia event for Jirachi didn't let you time travel ahead to complete the event early, but you can time travel backward to collect this Pokemon and participate in the event if you missed it. This can also be used to meet the other post-launch additions of Sableye and Hoppip, as well as to secure their unique event rewards. Make sure to check out our complete Pokopia guides hub including how to find fossils, build all habitats, visit Dream islands, and more.

EA Sports has officially announced NHL 27, with 20-year-old Macklin Celebrini gracing the cover. The new entry in the pro ice hockey series includes all the stuff fans would expect, including better graphics, rebuilt team playbooks, and updated camera work, but there were also a few reveals fans might not have seen coming. One of the marquee new additions to NHL 27 is Connected Franchise, a feature fans have requested for years. It hasn't been in an NHL game since 2013's NHL 14. People were initially excited about the mode coming back, but the hype didn't last long for some, after key detail about the mode was uncovered. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkz-p4wYegU The NHL 27 website confirms that Connected Franchise only supports human-controlled teams, and a screenshot from the announcement trailer states, "Teams without a human user cannot be controlled, traded with, or played against." Given that, players will need to have 32 real human people in a league. This is upsetting some fans, who are asking EA to add in AI teams. There was also some confusion about if Connected Franchise would be limited to a single season, but that is not the case. "Want to clear up one misconception: NHL 27 Connected Franchise is not limited to one season. Your league does not end after Year 1," NHL 27's franchise strategy and marketing manager said. "You can continue the same league, and roster moves like trades and free agent claims will carry forward. But for this year, aspects like player aging, retirement, season stats, do not carry over. We know those features matter, and the upcoming blog and Feedback Portal will give the community a place to share what they want prioritized next as we continue to build on the mode. More to share soon!" NHL 27 also features a new broadcast commentary team with John Buccigross and Darren Pang. The game launches on September 11 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
