Before Dishonored, Arkane was tapped to make Thief 4, and my heart weeps for what might have been: 'We had an amazing pitch for Thief'
A Blade Runner game was also a possibility, which would have been fine too, I guess.

It's showcase season, where the new consoles at?!The end of May is nigh, which means summer showcase season is right around the corner. This time of year always brings loads of amazing new game reveals, but 2026 feels a little different, with next-gen consoles on the horizon. So, do you think we'll actually see either PS6 or Project Helix — or some of the games that'll be running on them — this summer?Honestly, we're not sure right now. If next-gen launches next year in earnest (and that's still a big if right now), it feels like we should start knowing a bit more about the hardware powering the next console cycle very soon. However, with global uncertainty still being a factor in what seems like everything right now, it feels as though these tech companies may opt to stay a little quieter until closer to launch this time around.Read the full article on purexbox.com
So what the heck is Project M?Bloober Team's CEO, Piotr Babieno, has once again teased the potential for new horror experiences on the Switch 2 as the company's new subsidiary, Broken Mirror Games, works on the mysterious 'Project M'.Posting on LinkedIn (thanks, My Nintendo News), Babieno asked his followers what the Switch 2 could potentially do for horror that can't possibly be replicated on PlayStation, Xbox, or PC. Though it's seemingly put forward as an entirely hypothetical question, you don't have to read between the lines to realise that he's probably teasing the company's upcoming Switch 2 exclusive.Read the full article on nintendolife.com
Time to put these to bed.Back in the day, it was pretty well understood that seeing a popular show or brand on a licensed video game didn’t necessarily mean that you were in for a great time. Though titles such as DuckTales or GoldenEye 007 broke through as exceptional titles for their respective eras, the majority of licensed games were usually the sort of passable chaff that eventually made its way to the bargain bin to be forgotten about when the generation passed.Yet, video game preservation is an increasingly discussed topic these days, and with nostalgia always being a reliable means of making a decent return on investment, many publishers have been investing more into collections that preserve legacy content by offering it to a new generation.Read the full article on nintendolife.com

New Steam player record also set.Even before its main Xbox Game Pass release, it feels like we spoke a lot about Forza Horizon 6's success - notably some impressive early access numbers, high review scores and lots of people hopping on the Steam version at once. In addition to all of this though, some early data from the folks over at Alinea Analytics shows incredibly encouraging sales figures for the new Xbox racer - and that's before this opening weekend that's just gone.According to the analytics firm, Forza Horizon 6 sold 4.9 million copies across Xbox and Steam by Friday, May 22nd. That includes the game's four-day early access period and roughly three days of the main standard edition release - and we don't know about you folks, but almost five million sales before the game's full opening weekend looks incredibly impressive to us (a large chunk of those sales will have been at the $120 early access price too).Read the full article on purexbox.com

Holiday magic. It's no secret that Nintendo was in a bit of a dark time at the end of the Wii U era. With sales down and everyone awaiting the next console (or should we say 'NX console'?), the company needed something to bring in the big bucks over the holidays. The answer, alongside amiibo, was the NES and SNES Classic systems, and boy, did they work.Ever ready to give a cracking PR response, Reggie was ready for the mini systems' launch. We all knew that they were something of a stopgap for the big N while the Switch was still in the oven, and the then-NOA president told Kotaku as much at the time: "these were limited time opportunities that were a way for us as a business to bridge from the conclusion of Wii U as a hardware system to the launch of Nintendo Switch".Read the full article on nintendolife.com
