Following a long development time, Crimson Desert launched earlier this year on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, becoming a smashing success despite its by-the-books open-world formula that incorporates elements from other open-world games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Remake Release Date Announcement Creeps Closer, As Nintendo Switch 2 Limited Edition Design Leaks Online

The long-rumored The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is among the few games launching in 2026 still lacking a solid release date. While there's a high likelihood the remake of what is considered one of the best games of all time will clash directly with GTA 6 this November, Nintendo is keeping a tight lid on when the highlight of the year's Nintendo Switch 2 release schedule will launch. However, the announcement may be right around the corner, as designs for the limited-edition console and Pro Controller meant to celebrate the series' 40th anniversary have leaked online. The leaked […]

Remedy Keeps Its Silence On Max Payne 1 and 2 Remake, As Rockstar Seizes Control Of Its Promotion

Besides working on CONTROL Resonant, which will mark a significant shift for the franchise with the introduction of action gameplay reminiscent of games like Devil May Cry, Remedy Entertainment is working on the Max Payne 1 and 2 Remake for Rockstar Games. In today's financial report, the Finnish developer reiterated that the remake is in full production, but did not elaborate further on the current progress, and we may not hear much about it for a few more months, as the ball is apparently in Rockstar Games' court. As reported by Rockstar Intel, during the Q&A session held after the […]

Star Wars Zero Company Does Play a Lot Like XCOM with Lightsabers, But It Has More Than a Few Tricks

Wccftech recently had the chance to attend a Star Wars Zero Company presentation (plus a meaty Q&A with BitReactor, which you can find here), followed by access to a preview build of the upcoming single-player turn-based tactics game. The developers reckon it's shaping up to be more than XCOM with lightsabers, though honestly, after playing it, the similarities are very strong. Still, the game combines squad-based combat with a more character-driven campaign, a strategic galaxy map, and a deep management layer that could make every decision feel consequential. Set during the twilight of the Clone Wars, Zero Company follows Hawks, a […]

Pokémon Pokopia has been one of the more welcome surprises of 2026, offering an excellent package that simultaneously delivers both innovation and classic charm. Oblivion Remastered on Switch 2 Outshines Xbox Series S, as NVIDIA DLSS Becomes The System’s Secret Weapon Again

Following last year's release on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, Bethesda has now launched The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered on Nintendo Switch 2. As the game still doesn't run as well as it should on the other platforms due to the demanding Unreal Engine 5 that handles the remastered visuals, many were worried the Nintendo Switch 2 would not be a good port, but a new comparison video highlights how NVIDIA DLSS is, once again, the system's secret weapon to deliver image quality higher than the Xbox Series S and solid performance, thanks to […]

Take-Two CEO Admits GTA 6 Could Have Cost More Than $80, but Rockstar Chose Restraint and Overdelivered Value

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick was recently featured on CNBC's Squawk Pod to discuss the upcoming launch of Rockstar's GTA 6 and the partnership with Netflix. When talking about Grand Theft Auto 6, Zelnick alluded to the fact that the game could have been priced even higher (as analysts have long discussed and fans have feared), but ultimately, Take-Two and Rockstar aim to always overdeliver on value. So, we've established an $80 price point and a $100 price point for the regular edition and the Premium Edition of GTA 6. And I think most people felt that if we wanted […]

Modder Successfully Escapes NVIDIA’s GeForce NOW Sandbox, Turning a $10 Subscription Into a Rentable High-End Windows Cloud PC

A modder going by Zortos, working with developer dpadGuy, has found a way to escape GeForce NOW's restricted game-streaming interface and access the full underlying Windows desktop running on NVIDIA's cloud hardware. The exploit essentially turns a paid GeForce NOW subscription into a rentable, high-end Windows PC in the cloud, complete with taskbar, start menu, desktop icons, and access to various system tools. How the Exploit Works The trick hinges on a clever file-swapping method rather than any deep security flaw in NVIDIA's infrastructure. It's all possible thanks to Trove, a free-to-play MMO originally made by Trion Worlds and now […]

Sony and Arc System Works Patched MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, After PC Players Revolted Over Broken 60 FPS Performance

MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls launched last week on PC and PlayStation 5, but the experience differed greatly between PC and console. While the PlayStation 5 version plays flawlessly, the PC version of the latest fighting game developed by Arc System Works leaves a lot to be desired: most systems cannot run the game at a consistent 60 FPS, resulting in numerous issues during both offline and online play. Thankfully, the Japanese developer responded quickly to criticism, releasing the first PC patch today to address these performance issues. Following a brief maintenance period, which has now ended, Arc System Works rolled out […]

Beast of Reincarnation Gets NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 and AMD FSR 4.0 Support, But Promised Story Improvements Disappoint

Beast of Reincarnation launched last week on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, but the game's launch state was far from optimal, featuring a variety of technical issues that made it impossible for many to enjoy what is, in my opinion, a solid action RPG. GAME FREAK and Fictions immediately acknowledged the game's issues, vowing to fix them as quickly as possible, and the first results of their effort are now available in the form of a patch that somewhat disappoints in regard to the promised story improvements. While every fan of the series wishes it would release as soon as possible, Square Enix's forecasts for the current fiscal year ending on March 31, 2027 suggest that the third entry in the series will only release from April onward. Blizzard Becomes Xbox’s Top-Performing Studio, President Tells Staff, as Diablo 4 and Overwatch Fuel Back-to-Back Growth

Around a month ago, Bloomberg's Jason Schreier confirmed that Blizzard was among the rosiest divisions under the Xbox umbrella, having successfully rebuilt momentum across all its main franchises (Warcraft, Diablo, and Overwatch), though that doesn't necessarily make it immune to the upcoming second wave of Xbox layoffs mandated by CEO Asha Sharma. Square Enix Reportedly Halted a Nearly Finished Final Fantasy IX Remake and Has Now Pivoted Away from Mining Its Past

However, that's not to say the work that has been done won't be picked up again in the future. Donaldson also claimed that the Japanese publisher will focus on developing new […]

Take-Two CEO Bets Low-Latency Cloud Gaming Advancements Will 10x the Installed Base Within Three Years, Dismissing Hardware-Cost Fears

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick was chatty as usual in today's Q1 FY 2027 earnings call, giving a lot of space to GTA 6 (as expected) but also addressing rising hardware costs with optimism about cloud gaming as a solution. When quizzed on the matter, he reckoned that increased hardware prices aren't a significant headwind for Take-Two's games because of strong demand for the publisher's titles (he's mainly referring to GTA and NBA here, in all likelihood). Then, he shared that Take-Two is bullish about streaming taking off "commercially" within three years and basically increasing the installed base tenfold. Look, the […]

Take-Two CEO Calls GTA 6 Preorders “Unprecedented,” Explains Why It Won’t Ship on a Disc

During today's Q1 FY 2027 earnings call, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed that Rockstar's GTA 6 has made an exceptional and unprecedented start to preorders, although the publisher is refusing to disclose an actual sales figure or treat the early response as a finished victory: We've received exceptional pre-order reception to GTA 6. I'm not gonna tell you how many units we've sold, or we're selling, but I'd say that the sales are unprecedented and astonishing and astronomical, and that we don't know how to translate that into numbers yet. We're not taking a victory lap about pre-order sales […]

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave – Everything We Know About Nintendo’s Time-Traveling Switch 2 Strategy RPG

Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave is Nintendo and Intelligent Systems' next mainline entry in the long-running tactical RPG series, the first since 2023's Engage. Revealed as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive in September 2025, the game takes the franchise to the divine Dagdan Empire, where a contest promising one wish to its victor becomes the focal point of a war against the revived demon god Balor. While preserving the series' trademark grid-based, turn-based battles, Fortune's Weave builds its campaign around four protagonists whose individual paths can be played separately and revisited via time-travel mechanics. That structure is paired with a city […]

CAPCOM’s Dragon’s Dogma 2 Becomes A True Co-Op Monster Hunter Soon, As DD2gether Mod Arrives Before Dark Arisen

With its emphasis on fighting against big enemies like Cyclops and Ogres, the original Dragon's Dogma often felt like a sort of cross between an open-world RPG and the Monster Hunter series. Dragon's Dogma 2 followed in the footsteps of its predecessor (perhaps even a bit too much), delivering the same feel as its predecessor. Soon, the two CAPCOM series will get closer than ever before on PC thanks to the Alpha launch of the DD2gether mod, which introduces co-op multiplayer ahead of the Dark Arisen expansion on October 9 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and […]

Halo Studios Avoids Layoffs Despite Campaign Evolved’s Rough Launch, but Xbox’s Planned FY 2027 1,600 Job Cuts Still Loom

Shortly after the launch of Halo: Campaign Evolved, a few developers shared on LinkedIn that they had been laid off, sparking fears of another round of layoffs at developer Halo Studios. The studio once known as 343 Industries came unscathed out of the latest round of mass Xbox layoffs, but that could change quickly, especially since the game's early reception hasn't been great. However, GamesBeat's Dean Takahashi reported that there haven't been any internal job cuts and that those people were external contractors. The source said: No layoffs have occurred at Halo Studios. There are often external contractor shifts that […]
