Rumors have long indicated that Apple is working on an all-glass new iPhone design for the 20th anniversary next year. But an analyst from Jefferies believes that device is no longer moving forward.
Last year iPhone 17 Pro’s Cosmic Orange color proved an instant hit, but rumors indicate it’s being replaced in iPhone 18 Pro by a new burgundy. Here’s what to expect, per a new leak.
We’re one month out from Apple’s big September event, and a new Bloomberg report outlines eight new products likely to be announced.
Apple has revealed how the new Siri AI features will work for users in China. The new AI features will be powered by Alibaba’s Qwen models. While the iPhone maker is partnering with Google for access to its Gemini models in most countries, the Chinese government requires Apple to instead partner with a local AI company …
One of the most annoying elements of the iPhone user interface is the guessing game we have to play when changing settings for an app. Some of the time we open the app itself and go to its built-in settings menu. Other times we have to exit the app and open the completely separate Apple Settings app, which is a clunky experience to say the least (though a free shortcut helps) …
A Bloomberg report yesterday suggested that we could see a pretty dramatic shake-up in a future Apple Watch lineup. In particular, it suggested that the company was exploring the possibility of one or more models with a round rather than square form factor …
A new TrendForce analysis estimates that Apple will pay 38% more for iPhone 18 Pro components than it did for its predecessor. Unsurprisingly, the biggest hike is in the cost of memory, with Apple said to be paying around three times more this year. However, the firm’s analysis supports my own view that this year’s increase in price will not be as high as some have suggested …
There are tons of MagSafe battery variations, and I may own most of them. The new TESSAN AERO 5000 caught my eye because it’s really thin and has a titanium finish. It also uses a new battery technology to reduce heat and improve overall safety. After reviewing the entire spec sheet, I think this might be one of the more interesting MagSafe batteries hitting the market this year, and I can’t wait to get my hands on one.
Local weather is one of the most underrated variables to use in your Apple Home automation setup. Over the past few years, I have used sensors for everything from knowing when to drip faucets in freezing weather to adjusting the sprinkler schedule with the Eve Aqua on hot days. Eve Weather has been part of my setup for a while now, and with its Matter upgrade a few years ago, it is incredibly useful in my home.
Earlier this summer, Apple dramatically increased its prices as a result of the ongoing memory crisis around the globe. Things like iPad Air increased from $599 to $749, M5 MacBook Pro from $1699 to $1999, and Apple TV from $129 to $199. That’s just a few examples, but the point is, these price hikes are steep. It leaves the question – will Apple work on major improvements to make its products more appealing at these new prices?
When Apple released the iPhone 17 last September, the timer started for the new flagship model breaking a record set 15 years ago. The record takes more than a year to break, but based on current rumors, the iPhone 17 will be the first to steal the crown.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman wrote today that Apple is planning a return of the much-beloved ceramic Apple Watch. In fact, Gurman says a new ceramic Watch could go on sale as soon as this year. The ceramic watch option was last offered in 2019 as the ‘Apple Watch Edition Series 5’, back when it still used the Edition branding for its more premium watches featuring higher-end materials.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman goes into some detail today about the future for the Apple Watch product line. He suggests Apple is going back to the drawing board as the Watch faces stiffer competition from the likes of the Oura Ring and other screenless smart fitness devices. It seems Apple is preparing to revamp the concept of the Apple Watch from the ground up …
According to the latest edition of the Power On newsletter, Apple had reportedly been considering a feature for Apple Upgrade that would’ve made setting up your iPhone nearly seamless: where Apple would’ve already copied your data over. This feature never ended up seeing the light of day, though.
![Hands-on: This modular controller slides open to transform your iPhone into a mobile game console [Video]](https://9to5mac.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/6/2026/08/controller.jpg?quality=82&strip=all&w=1600)
I first saw the Ohsnap MCON controller at CES last year, and I immediately fell in love with the concept. The idea was simple: give people a full-featured mobile controller that attaches to your phone via Magsafe, slides open when ready to use, and collapses into something compact that can go with you anywhere. Over the last two weeks, I have put it through its paces. I have tossed it around, pressed the launch mechanism 100s of times, used it with emulators, Apple Arcade games, and with multiple phones. Here is how it has held up, along with everything you need to know.
Apple is set to announce the first-ever foldable iPhone next month. A new rumor today suggests that the iPhone Ultra might be available in two colors: silver and dark blue.
We’ve had iOS 27 in our hands for about two months now. Of course, it’s a beta – and the public release won’t be hitting for another 4-6 weeks. That said, despite the fact that I’ve been running a beta on my phone for the past two months, I can’t say I’ve really thought much about it. It just… works.

New PC shipment numbers from IDC show a divide across global deployment trends. On the one hand, actual device shipments are down nearly 5% across the industry. On the other side, overall manufacturer revenues are growing because prices are increasing across the board. Component shortages, driven largely by AI data centers (on top of worldwide government deficit spending), are consuming global memory allocations and resulting in major price increases across the industry. Yet, on top of this widespread industry downturn in shipments, Apple stands alone as the only major computer manufacturer posting shipment growth.
